The Pesach-Lamb Bone
The bone of the lamb is the symbol of the Pesach lamb to remind us that we were spared the tragic fate of the Egyptians, whose firsttborn were slain. As the Torah tells us :"God passed over the houses of the Israelites in Egypt when God smote the Egyptians and spared our houses. (Exodus 12:27) It also is the root for the name of the festival. The Israelites were protected against the final plague.
The Roasted Egg
The egg reminds us of rebirth. It was as ifthe Israelites were reborn when brought fromslavery to freedom. Passover can also be a time for a personal rebirth. What would you like to change from your life or create anew?
The Maror
Maror takes its place on our seder plate becausethe Egyptiansembittered the lives of the Israelites.
The Charoset
The charoset symbolizes the mortar used by the Israelites to build for Pharaoh.
The Lettuce
Lettuce is the symbol of the greenery of spring for new growth and new beginnings.
