On Sabbath
On Sabbath (Friday night) add: Sundown tonight is the beginning of the Sabbath. Jewish holidays always begin at sundown. Let us put aside the week's obligations, responsibilities and cares and be grateful for this celebration, renewal and peace that comes at this time.
Baruch atah adonai elohenu melech ha-olam asher kid'shanu b'mitzvotav v'tzivanu l'hadlik nayr shel shabbat v'shel yom tov.
Blessed is the one light of the universe that shines onto and within each of us as we kindle the lights of the Sabbath and the Festival of Pesach.
