Next Year
This is the end of our chocolate seder. We have spent the night talking, praying, recounting stories and taking our fill of chocolate milk. We spent the night with friends old and new. For some of us, thinking ahead may be terrifying. Some of us are going into a new year blind, some of us are taking on a new journey, and others continuing on their path. I urge you to look towards the next year with promise and with hope. Remember that you have homes wherever your friends are. Synagogue, schools, Israel, and within yourself. As Jews, our ancestors were constantly facing the unknown, and here we are! You are a celebration of triumph, and you too will find success with hard work.
Next year is a new challenge, but you are not going at it alone. As Moses had Miriam, you have your trusted people. Reach out when the path looks dark and survive when failure happens. Next year will be sweet, spicy, bitter, and new; what a simcha !
