Four Cups of Wine
Tonight we will drink four cups of wine. Each cup of wine represents one of the statements of God as set forth in Torah- "I will bring you out," "I will deliver you," "I will redeem you," "I will gather you to me." As we drink each cup, we will recognize the significance of each cup as it relates to the struggles of the earliest Israelites to escape bondage in Egypt as well as to the struggles faced by Jewish-Americans, African-Americans, women, and others to overcome the bondage of oppression we face as a result of our religion, race, gender, or sexual orientation.
