BARECH:
Refill everyone’s wine glass.
We now say grace after the meal, thanking God for the food we’ve eaten. On Passover, this becomes something like an extended toast to God, he can be vein sometimes but we still love him.
A song of ascents:
When the Lord returned the exiled to Zion we were like dreamers. Then our mouths filled with laughter and our tongues with joyous song. Then it was said among the nations, "the Lord has done great things for them." The Lord has done great things for us, we rejoice. Lord, return our exiled like streams in the Negev. Those who sow with tears shall reap with joy. He who weeps while sowing will return rejoicing and bearing sheaves.
The Third Glass of Wine
The blessing over the meal is immediately followed by another blessing over the wine:
בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ, אֱלֹהֵינוּ מֶלֶךְ הָעוֹלָם, בּוֹרֵא פְּרִי הַגָּפֶן
Baruch Atah Adonai, Eloheinu Melech ha-olam, borei p’ree hagafen.
We praise God, Ruler of Everything, who creates the fruit of the vine.
Drink the third glass of wine! Now! Drink!
