Uprooting the Table
Why do we remove/uproot the table? D'bei Yannai says: So that the little children will notice and ask. Once [as an orphan child] Abbaye sat before Rabbah [his teacher at the seder]. He saw him remove/uproot the table before him Abbaye said: But we have not eaten yet, so why remove the table? Rabbah replied: You have now exempted us from reciting Ma Nishtana.
