Second Glass of WIne
When we fled from Egypt, we were a people without a home. We were refugees then, and we have been refugees again and again in the history of our people. As we raise the second glass of wine, let us promise to open our doors to those in need, and to work to open the doors of our country to the refugees of today. Traditionally, Jewish families open their doors a little later in the seder, after the meal, to welcome Elijah the prophet. We'll open ours now, before we eat, to welcome the refugees. We have enough, and more than enough. There is room here for everyone.
