Means and Ends as One
The ultimate goal is one seamless experience of Hashem. We usually see good days and bad days, matzah days and maror days. But eventually we will not experience bitter as bitter. All our days will be infused with the sweetness of purpose and pleasure, in one bite.
At that time -and we are making steps toward this ultimate goal tonight - we will not prefer one over the other. We will engage all experiences with equal passion, fervor, joy, faith patience, and hope. We will appreciate the moments of work as much as the moments of pleasure─and ultimately work will be pleasure.
This is the meaning of the Hillel sandwich - matzah and maror together as one. We can taste that reality now.
