It's not our ancestors alone whom G-d redeemed, he redeemed all of us with them.
\n\n
What does it mean for each one of us to regard ourselves as have personally gone out of Egypt? The Hebrew word for Egypt is Mits'rayim (מצרים), which has the root Tzar (צר), which means narrow and constrained. So, to say we must leave Egypt is also to say that we must struggle to break out of the inhibitions and constrictions of our minds and free ourselves to attain our full spiritual, emotional, and psychological potential. The Jews wandered in the desert for 40 years so that they could break free of their slave mentality, and we should too.
\n",

I walked inside and noticed people taking shopping carts and going aisle to aisle, piling as much food as they wanted into their carts. No one said anything to them, and no one stopped them. People filled up their wagons to their hearts' content. This seemed very strange to me. Indeed, this must be the land of gold that we often heard about America in the old country.
\n\n
But then I noticed something very strange. As soon as someone came to the checkout counter, every item was taken out and scrutinized. Everything was registered and recorded to the smallest detail, and then payment was extracted. Later on people explained to me that this was what is called in America a \"supermarket\". One has the right to take whatever one wants, but an account and payment is demanded at the end.\"
\n\n
Whoever wishes to borrow may come and borrow but the collectors regularly make their rounds and exact payment. Nothing is free and G-d ultimately judges. Mitz'rayim enslaved us and made payment.
\n",

So why do we usually sit on chairs with four legs? The three patriarchs represent the three pillars that the Jewish nation was formed on. Abraham represented hospitality and kindness, generously hosting and housing even strangers. Isaac is more introspective and devoted. Jacob is a mix of the two.
\n\n
The four matriarchs though, are rooted in reality. They translated their husbands' theories into real world actions. For example, Sarah fixed the dispute between Ishmael and Isaac, while Abraham just told them to figure it out themselves. So even though explicitly reference the patriarchs, the four matriarchs are remembered throughout the Seder through the number four. We drink four cups of wine. We ask four questions. And there are four sons.
\n",
