Introduction
The story of our ancestors fleeing Egypt 3,500 years ago is being uncannily reflected to us in the news right now. Men, women and children are traveling as we speak to Europe hoping to escape poverty, injustice, and war, and to start a new life. Our common legacy is a story of hope within struggle. It is a story of community, of freedom, and of a people struggling to hold on to who they are while emigrating to make a better life and escape life-threatening tyranny. At the end of this evening we will step off of this train back home and sleep in our own beds, secure that our tomorrow will be safe. For the thousands of refugees traveling at this moment by boat, foot, car, or train, their bed is uncertain and for some, even their lives.
