I led your father
I led your father Abraham across the Euphrates
and guided him into the land of Canaan;
and I multiplied his descendants.
I gave him Isaac, and to Isaac I gave Jacob and Esau.
To Esau I gave the hill country of Seir as an inheritance,
while Jacob and his children—a family that numbered seventy souls— went down into Egypt.
And Joseph, already in Egypt, emerged as a powerful leader in that land...
And there was famine in all lands,
but everywhere in the land of Egypt there was bread...
And Pharaoh said to all of Egypt: "Go to Joseph. You shall do as he says." ....
And all the world came to Joseph in Egypt to find sustenance.
