Hand Washing #1
In a moment we'll get to the first of the symbolic foods on the seder plate, and we'll get to snack a little while we follow the steps of the seder. First, we will take a moment to wash our hands for the first time tonight. Washing our hands is a symbolic letting go - we wash away the distractions and concerns of our daily lives so that we can be fully present, here at the table. It is also an expression of our freedom - our time is our own, we are not fleeing from oppression. We have the luxury of taking a moment before a meal to prepare ourselves.
