Treseder
\n\n
The fruit of the vine—wine or grape juice—served two separate purposes during the ancient Seder service. It serves the same purpose today. The first glass symbolizes rejoicing for freedom won. A blessing is pronounced on the wine or grape juice:
\n\n\n\n
“Blessed art Thou, Lord our God, King of the Universe, who created the produce of the vine. Blessed art Thou, Lord our God, King of the Universe, who has … sanctified us with His Commandments. And Thou hast given us, O Lord our God, in love, … the Festival of Matzot [unleavened bread], the season of our freedom … and hast given us for our inheritance Your appointed holy times in rejoicing and gladness.” 7
\n\n
The Messiah did not bless this first cup in the traditional manner. Instead, he “took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves:
\n\n
“For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come.” (Luke 22:17–18.)
\n\n
There would be no joy for the Savior until his mission on earth was completed, until he returned a glorified, resurrected being who had conquered all things in behalf of his sin-bound brothers and sisters.
\n\n",

Behold, I say unto you, Nay.
\n\n
34 Do ye suppose that our fathers would have been more choice than they if they had been righteous? I say unto you, Nay.
\n\n
35 Behold, the Lord esteemeth all flesh in one; he that is righteous is favored of God. But behold, this people had rejected every word of God, and they were ripe in iniquity; and the fulness of the wrath of God was upon them; and the Lord did curse the land against them, and bless it unto our fathers; yea, he did curse it against them unto their destruction, and he did bless it unto our fathers unto their obtaining power over it.
\n\n
36 Behold, the Lord hath created the earth that it should be inhabited; and he hath created his children that they should possess it.
\n\n
37 And he raiseth up a righteous nation, and destroyeth the nations of the wicked.
\n\n
38 And he leadeth away the righteous into precious lands, and the wicked he destroyeth, and curseth the land unto them for their sakes.
\n\n
39 He ruleth high in the heavens, for it is his throne, and this earth is his footstool.
\n\n
40 And he loveth those who will have him to be their God. He sent fiery flying serpents among them; and after they were bitten he prepared a way that they might be healed; and the labor which they had to perform was to look; and because of the simpleness of the way, or the easiness of it, there were many who perished. 4
\n\n
2 And they did harden their hearts from time to time, and they did revile against Moses, and also against God; nevertheless, ye know that they were led forth by his matchless power into the land of promise.
\n",

"body": "
The Four Covenant Cups of Wine The four covenants which the Lord made with Israel in the wilderness are found in Exodus 6:6-7. They are reverenced and remembered during the Passover seder by drinking four cups of wine. In shortened form they are listed thus”—I will bring you, I will deliver you, I will redeem you, and I will take you.” Some scholars think there were five cups of wine in the original Passover seder. It seems likely, since there is another promise in verse 8—”I will restore you.” The temporal promises have spiritual counterparts: I will bring you out of Egypt (I will bring you out of the world); I will deliver you from slavery (I will deliver you from sin); I will redeem you (I will ransom you through the atonement); and I will take you as my people (I will take you as my spiritual sons and daughters). And for verse 8−I will restore you to the land of your inheritance (will gather you out of the world and into my kingdom). Christ did not partake of the final (or fifth)cup (which became the sacramental cup), because he couldn’t fulfill its promise until the kingdom of God on earth was permanently established.
\n\n\n\n
Source: https://mormonhub.com/perks/days-of-awe/
\n",

"body": "
An Explanation of the Afikomon Originally, celebrants were required to partake of a morsel of the lamb as the last food eaten during the Passover evening. During those times when there was no temple or tabernacle in which to perform animal sacrifice, the afikomon (a Greek word meaning “that which comes after”) took the place of the lamb. The afikomon is the most important symbolic food of the Passover feast. It directly represents the Paschal Lamb and is absolutely mandatory in the Passover ritual. As Jesus Christ became The bread of Life and ended blood sacrifice, the afikomon replaced the Lamb. All celebrants are required to partake of the afikomon later on in the Passover ceremony (a piece at least the size of an olive). The symbolism of the Savior’s suffering, burial, and resurrection is unmistakable, since the bread, already pierced and striped during its preparation, is broken, wrapped in a linen napkin, “buried” or hidden, brought forth again, then ransomed for a gift at the end of the feast. (Some Oriental Jewish families wrap the afikomon in red.) The position of the afikomon in the envelope is also significant. The upper matzah in the envelope represents the High Priesthood, the middle matzah represents the Levitical Priesthood, and the lower matzah represents the lay member. It was the Levites, supervised by the High Priests, who made the sacrifice in the Temple. It is the afikomon that Jesus used as the sacramental bread during the Last Supper.
\n\n
Source: https://mormonhub.com/perks/days-of-awe/
\n",

Eyring explained:
\n\n
Centuries ago, the prophet Malachi said that in a coming day, God would send Elijah to “turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers” (Malachi 4:6).
\n\n
This prophecy was so important the Savior quoted it when He visited the Americas after His Resurrection (see 3 Nephi 25:5–6). And when the angel Moroni visited the Prophet Joseph Smith, he too quoted the prophecy about Elijah and hearts, fathers, and children (see Joseph Smith—History 1:36–39).
\n\n
Today is April 1. Two days from now, April 3, marks 181 years from the day when Malachi’s prophecy was fulfilled. On that day, Elijah did come, and he gave to Joseph Smith the priesthood power to seal families eternally (see D&C 110:13–16).
\n\n
From that day to this, interest in exploring one’s family history has grown exponentially. At ever-increasing rates, people seem drawn to their ancestry with more than just casual curiosity. Genealogical libraries, associations, and technologies have emerged around the world to support this interest. The internet’s power to enhance communications has enabled families to work together to do family history research with a speed and thoroughness never before possible.
\n",

"body": "
Elder Holland-
\n\n
That is exactly the problem that beset the children of Israel at the edge of the Red Sea, and it has everything to do with holding fast to your earlier illumination. The record says, “And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore afraid.” Some (just like those Paul described earlier) said words to this effect: “Let’s go back. This isn’t worth it. We must have been wrong. That probably wasn’t the right spirit telling us to leave Egypt.” What they actually said to Moses was: “Wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt? … It had been better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness.” 10 And I have to say, “What about that which has already happened? What about the miracles that got you here? What about the frogs and the lice? What about the rod and the serpent, the river and the blood? What about the hail, the locusts, the fire, the firstborn sons?”
\n\n
How soon we forget. It would not have been better to stay and serve the Egyptians, and it is not better to remain outside the Church, nor to put off marriage, nor to reject a mission call or other Church service, and so on and so on forever. Of course our faith will be tested as we fight through these self-doubts and second thoughts. Some days we will be miraculously led out of Egypt—seemingly free, seemingly on our way—only to come to yet another confrontation, like all that water lying before us. At those times we must resist the temptation to panic and give up. At those times fear will be the strongest of the adversary’s weapons against us.
\n\n
“And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord. … The Lord shall fight for you.” In confirmation the great Jehovah said to Moses, “Speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward.” 11
\n\n
That is the second lesson of the spirit of revelation. After you have gotten the message, after you have paid the price to feel His love and hear the word of the Lord, go forward. Don’t fear, don’t vacillate, don’t quibble, don’t whine. You may, like Alma going to Ammonihah, have to find a route that leads an unusual way, but that is exactly what the Lord is doing here for the children of Israel. Nobody had ever crossed the Red Sea this way, but so what? There’s always a first time. With the spirit of revelation, dismiss your fears and wade in with both feet. In the words of Joseph Smith, “Brethren [and sisters], shall we not go on in so great a cause? Go forward and not backward. Courage, brethren; and on, on to the victory!” 12
\n\n\n",
