She also led the song of victory after the waters of the Red Sea parted and God gave abundant water to the people in the desert.</p>\n\n<p>We remember Miriam the prophet, who danced at the Sea of Reeds to celebrate the Exodus. A well of fresh water was said to follow her in the desert so that the Israelites always had water to drink. We remember Prophet Miriam.</p>\n\n<p>Water is a symbol of liberation. The song “Wade in the Water” refers to the Israelites setting out to cross the Red Sea.</p>\n\n<p>Harriet Tubman set out to escape slavery with her two brothers. They followed the North Star to travel north to freedom, always walking near the water’s edge.</p>\n\n<p>We remember Harriet Tubman, conductor on the Underground Railroad, who led 300 captured Africans from slavery to freedom. Miriam’s optimism and faith were a spiritual oasis, giving the Hebrews the confidence to overcome the hardships of the Exodus.</p>\n\n<p>Like Miriam, Jewish women in all generations have been essential for the continuity of our people. As keepers of traditions in the home, women passed down songs and stories, rituals and recipes, from mother to daughter, from generation to generation. Let us each fill the cup of Miriam with water from our own glasses, so that our children may continue to draw from the strength and wisdom of our heritage.</p>\n\n<p><u>When Miriam's cup is filled, raise the goblet and say: </u><br />\nYehi ratzon milfanecha, adonai eloheinu, velohei avoteinu v'imoteinu, borei ha'olam: shetishm'reinu  ut'kaymeinu bamidbar chayeinu im mayim chayim.
