Blessing of the Matzah
It is now time to recite the blessing over the matzah:
Baruch Atah Adonai, Eloheinu Melech ha-olam, hamotzi lechem min ha-aretz.
We praise god, ruler of the world, who brings bread (matzah) from the land.
Baruch Atah Adonai, Eloheinu Melech ha-olam, asher kid’shanu b’mitzvotav v’tzivanu al achilat matzah.
We praise god, ruler of everything, who made us holy through obligations, and commands us to eat matzah.
The host now distributes pieces of the top and middle matzah for everyone to eat.
