Plague Tracers Exodus Game

Haggadah Section: -- Ten Plagues

-Before beginning, prepare a set of folded-up, thick sheets of paper. The paper should be thick enough that people can't see the writing through it!

-Write the color "green" on one or two of the slips and the word "blue" on all the others.

-Explain that some people will receive green or "infected slips," while others will have blue or "uninfected slips."

-Tell everyone you're going to do an example. Randomly choose to have two people as infected, then have everyone stand and circulate around the room for 30 seconds until they hear STOP. Then, they will whisper the color of their strip to the nearest person. Make sure your hands are cupped around your mouth and their ear so people can't see your mouth move, like Taylor Swift whispering to Travis Kelce at a Chiefs game! Explain that people who hear green will now whisper green at all STOP times moving forward, regardless of whether their original strip was blue. Ask people to raise their hand if they would now be whispering green instead of blue in the example. Answer any questions now!

-Once everyone feels ready, distribute the slips, but no one should look yet! Folks should peek inside privately on your signal, ensuring other people can't see! Then, put the slips in their pocket or hide them under their plate.

-Now, follow the procedure two times, but this time, instead of silence, have them circulate while listening to music (or the "The Truth About Frogs" video) for 60 seconds.

-Once the second round is done, tell everyone who received a green slip at the beginning or heard green at the FIRST STOP to sit down, but those who heard green at the second STOP (the one we just finished) should remain standing.

-Repeat the procedure a third time. Tell everyone who heard green at the second STOP to sit down, while folks who heard green at the third STOP should remain standing.

-Continue this until only a few folks are left standing (or until the "Truth About Frogs Video" is over).

-Invite a volunteer to draw and take notes while everyone works together to trace the virus's origins. Regarding research rules, the one rule is that folks CANNOT say what color they SAID to someone or what color they HEARD from someone. They can only talk about who they talked to during which round and when they died.

*Protip: Try to remember who you talked to each round!
